boating on Lake Kalamalka in Vernon BC CANADA
Most people you meet in the Okanagan will tell you that Lake Kalamalka means "lake of many colours" because it is such a beautiful and colourful lake. Historians are now saying it was named after an Indian Chief. In any case, I began the water series basing all the paintings on colours found in Lake Kalamalka and then I expanded and began calling the series Lake of Many Colours to represent a broader spectrum of lakes. Now I even have paintings that are inspired by the colours of the ocean from an experience in Maui.
